Everything,Everywhere...?

Are 4G Contracts In The UK Worth It Yet?

So you're due an upgrade and EE have just unveiled their new 4G network across 10 of the bigger cities in the UK, nifty right? well. kind of. They have already experienced issues with network outage in the more concentrated coverage areas (LONDON!) and its criminally expensive for what you are getting at the moment.

4G Monthly Contracts

The only network who can offer them at present is EE which is a combination of Orange and T-Mobile, if you are on either of these network you can upgrade but its at a price. The basic level monthly contract starts at £41p/m and that doesn't even include the price of the phone and when you look at the small selection of handsets that can run 4G (high end Iphone/Samsung/HTC) you're looking at around £400-£500 for the handset only. Given the lack of coverage its probably not worth the money.

Would I Get It Yet?

No. It took a few years for 3G to pretty much cover the UK and although they have brought the spectrum auction forward meaning that other networks will also be on 4G shortly it still just isn't worth it because the chances are you still won't get coverage. My advice: Wait a couple of years when 4G handsets are more readily available and network coverage is better.

The only thing that would persuade me to get 4G possibly is the super cool advert with Kevin Bacon (you're welcome by the way)
